New venues rising

Three years ago, if you wanted to play padel in Phuket, there was exactly one place to go. Today, you are spoilt for choice — and the island is not done growing yet.

It is hard to believe how fast things have moved. In 2022 and early 2023, Padel Phuket in Chalong stood essentially alone — a single venue quietly introducing a sport that most people on the island had never heard of. A handful of courts. A small but passionate community. And the kind of energy that only exists when something is genuinely new.

Fast forward to today and Phuket has more than ten padel venues spread across the island, from Rawai in the south to the far north, with more on the way. What started as a niche sport for expats and tourists has become one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in Phuket — and it shows no signs of stopping.

Where It All Started

Padel Phuket in Chalong deserves full credit for planting the seed. Opening when the sport was barely on the radar in Thailand, they built a community from nothing — running casual sessions, welcoming beginners, and creating the social atmosphere that padel is known for globally.

The Phuket Padel Series itself grew out of that same early community. When we launched our first tournament, the pool of players was small but the enthusiasm was huge. It did not take long to realise that this was a sport that suited Phuket perfectly — the social format, the accessibility for all fitness levels, the fact that you can have a great game in 45 minutes even in the heat. It clicked.

"Padel is one of those sports where you go along to try it once and suddenly you are rearranging your entire week around it. That is what we have seen happen across Phuket — one by one, people get hooked."

The Island Fills In

The growth since then has been remarkable. New venues have opened across almost every part of the island, making padel genuinely accessible no matter where you live or stay. Each venue has its own character — some are integrated into larger sports complexes, others are standalone padel-first clubs. The variety is a good thing. It means the sport is attracting different kinds of players, not just one type of crowd.

Some of the names to watch in 2026:

  • Sigma Padel (Phuket Town) — bringing courts to the heart of the city for the first time.
  • Padel Warehouse (North Phuket) — taking the sport to the very top end of the island.
  • Pad Thai Padel (Rawai) — targeting a post-summer opening in the south.
  • The Padel Pound (Rawai) — another new addition coming to the Rawai area.

Rawai in particular is shaping up to be a hotspot. With both Pad Thai Padel and The Padel Pound targeting that area, the southern tip of the island — already home to a strong local community — is about to get a lot more options after summer.

What This Means for the PPS

For the Phuket Padel Series, the growth of the venue scene is everything. More courts mean more players. More players mean bigger tournaments, stronger competition, and a ranking system that actually reflects a real competitive community. PPS events that started with a few dozen players are now attracting fields across multiple categories, and the level of play has risen sharply.

With new venues bringing in fresh players from different parts of the island, the circuit keeps getting wider — and we are working more closely with venues across the island to host events, and build the infrastructure that a proper padel scene needs.

The Best Is Still Ahead

Three years is not a long time. In most parts of the world, padel took a decade to build the kind of momentum Phuket has achieved in a fraction of that. The combination of an international community, a tourism-driven economy, and a climate that makes outdoor sport possible year-round has made the island an unusually fast mover.

With new venues confirmed, more players joining every month, and the PPS continuing to grow the competitive side of the sport, 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for padel in Phuket. We are here for all of it.
